Common Faults We Diagnose

No matter the issue, our engineers have the expertise to find the cause

No Heating or Hot Water

A complete loss of heating or hot water is one of the most disruptive faults a homeowner can face. Our engineers will carry out a thorough inspection of your boiler, controls, and pipework to identify the cause and get your system restored as quickly as possible.

  • Boiler and controls inspection
  • Pipework and valve checks
  • Fast restoration of heating

Boiler Faults & Lockouts

Boiler lockouts and error codes can be caused by a wide range of issues, from ignition failures to pressure problems. Our engineers are experienced with all major boiler brands and can accurately diagnose and resolve faults to get your boiler running reliably again.

  • Error code diagnosis
  • All major boiler brands
  • Ignition and component checks

Low Pressure & System Leaks

Recurring low pressure or visible leaks in your heating system can indicate a variety of underlying issues. We'll locate the source of any leak, assess the condition of your system, and advise on the most effective repair to prevent further damage.

  • Leak detection and location
  • Pressure loss investigation
  • System condition assessment

Underfloor Heating Not Working

Underfloor heating faults can be tricky to diagnose without the right expertise and equipment. Whether it's an electrical fault, a wiring issue, or a problem with the manifold or pump, our engineers have the knowledge to identify and resolve the issue efficiently.

  • Electric & water-based systems
  • Manifold and pump diagnosis
  • Wiring and thermostat checks

Faulty Pumps, Valves & Thermostats

A faulty pump, stuck zone valve, or failing thermostat can cause a range of heating problems, from cold radiators to a system that won't respond to controls. We'll test and inspect all key components to pinpoint the exact part that needs attention.

  • Pump and valve testing
  • Thermostat and control checks
  • Component-level diagnosis

Ongoing or Intermittent Heating Issues

Intermittent faults are often the hardest to diagnose, but our structured approach ensures nothing is overlooked. If your heating cuts out randomly, certain rooms stay cold, or your system behaves inconsistently, we'll carry out a full investigation to find the root cause.

  • Full system investigation
  • Intermittent fault tracing
  • Root cause identification

    Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our fault diagnosis service

How much does a fault diagnosis cost?

We provide transparent pricing before any work begins. Our call-out and diagnosis fee covers a full inspection of your system, and we'll always explain the cost upfront so there are no surprises. Contact us for current rates.

Can you carry out the repair on the same visit?

In many cases, yes. If the fault is straightforward and we have the necessary parts, we'll aim to carry out the repair on the same visit. For more complex issues or parts that need to be ordered, we'll arrange a follow-up appointment at a time that suits you.

My boiler keeps locking out — what could be causing it?

Boiler lockouts can be caused by a number of issues including low water pressure, a faulty ignition, a blocked condensate pipe, or a failing component such as a pump or heat exchanger. Our engineers will read the error code and carry out a full inspection to identify the exact cause.

Some of my radiators are cold — is that a fault?

Cold radiators, particularly those that are cold at the top, are often caused by trapped air and can be resolved by bleeding. Cold spots at the bottom, however, may indicate sludge build-up requiring a powerflush. If multiple radiators are affected, it could point to a pump or valve issue — our engineers will diagnose the exact cause.

How quickly can you attend for a fault diagnosis?

We aim to attend as quickly as possible, often within 24–48 hours for non-emergency faults. For urgent issues such as no heating or hot water, we offer emergency call-outs and will do our best to attend on the same day.

Do I need a fault diagnosis before a repair?

Yes — accurate diagnosis is essential before any repair work begins. Attempting a repair without properly identifying the root cause can result in the same fault recurring or additional damage being caused. Our structured diagnostic process ensures the right fix is carried out first time.
